Our pilgrimage begins as we gather at the airport and board our overnight flight to Egypt. As we journey toward the land that welcomed the Holy Family, we entrust our travels to God's protection and look forward to the spiritual blessings ahead. This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the sacred places we will soon encounter and to prepare our hearts for a transformative pilgrimage.

Day 2 – Friday, October 15: Arrival in Egypt

Welcome to Egypt, the land that sheltered the Holy Family during their flight from Herod. Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be greeted and assisted before transferring to your hotel. Gather with your fellow pilgrims for dinner and prepare your heart for the sacred journey ahead.

Today we encounter the wonders of ancient Egypt at the majestic Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, enduring symbols of one of the world's oldest civilizations. We then visit the remarkable Grand Egyptian Museum, home to treasures that illuminate thousands of years of history. This day offers a profound appreciation of the culture that formed the backdrop of biblical events.

Our pilgrimage begins in earnest with a visit to Coptic Cairo, where tradition holds that the Holy Family found refuge during their stay in Egypt. We will pray at some of Christianity’s most ancient churches, including sites associated with Saints Sergius and Bacchus. Later, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization reveals the rich heritage of a land deeply connected to salvation history.

After flying to Luxor, we embark on a memorable Nile cruise through the heart of ancient Egypt. We visit the magnificent temples of Karnak and Luxor, marveling at the grandeur of a civilization that flourished along the Nile. As evening falls, we settle aboard our vessel and begin our journey southward.

This morning we explore the Valley of the Kings, where generations of pharaohs prepared for eternity. We also visit the striking Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the towering Colossi of Memnon. As we sail onward, the timeless landscapes of the Nile invite reflection on humanity’s enduring search for God and everlasting life.

We discover the beautifully preserved Temple of Edfu, one of the finest examples of ancient Egyptian architecture. Later, we visit the unique twin temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to Horus and Sobek. Sailing toward Aswan, we witness the rich blending of cultures that shaped the history of this remarkable region.

Those who wish may begin the day with an excursion to the awe-inspiring temples of Abu Simbel, masterpieces rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. We then visit the Aswan High Dam and the enchanting Temple of Philae, once a renowned pilgrimage destination in the ancient world. The story of Philae’s preservation stands as a testament to humanity’s commitment to safeguarding sacred heritage.

After breakfast, we depart Egypt and continue our pilgrimage to Jordan, a land rich in biblical history. Upon arrival in Amman, we are welcomed and transferred to our hotel. Rest and prepare for the next chapter of our journey through the Holy Land.

We journey to Petra, the breathtaking rose-red city carved into stone and one of the world’s greatest archaeological treasures. Walking through the dramatic Siq, we discover monuments that have inspired pilgrims and travelers for centuries. Later, we arrive at the Dead Sea, where we can reflect and relax beside the waters that border the biblical lands.

Today we stand atop Mount Nebo, where Moses gazed upon the Promised Land before completing his earthly journey. From this sacred vantage point, enjoy sweeping views of the Jordan Valley, Jericho, and Jerusalem. We continue to Madaba to admire its famous mosaic map of the Holy Land before crossing into Israel.

From the Mount of Olives we behold Jerusalem and reflect on Christ’s triumphant entry into the Holy City. We pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and at the Church of All Nations, recalling the Lord’s agony before His Passion. Our day concludes on Mount Zion, where we visit the Cenacle and sites connected to Peter’s denial and Christ’s imprisonment.

If time permits, we visit Abu Ghosh, a site traditionally associated with Emmaus and the Risen Lord’s appearance to His disciples. We then transfer to the airport for our journey home, carrying with us renewed faith and cherished memories.
